Race Episodes Recap

At the beginning of Season 5 of Race, the diversity hire issue had driven a wedge between Yoon-jo and his staff. Team Leader Ga is totally against Jae-min obtaining the new hire evaluations at this time. The latter disappoints Jae-min by requiring him to seek approval from higher-ups before proceeding with the proposal.

But he doesn’t give up and begins to look for someone to offer him a copy. Unfortunately, the plan also fails. Meanwhile, Yoon-jo starts receiving online harassment and has to make her Instagram account private to protect herself. That day, a lot of stuff happened because Sun-tae ordered his employees to find the rat who leaked the information. The format then blames the team for not doing a good job with the hiring process, which leads to a heated exchange between Jae-min and Sun-tae. Yoon-jo, visibly uncomfortable, asks Jae-min in private if the rumors are true. He attempts to reassure her that she is not unqualified, but she can tell that even he is beginning to have doubts.

Sun-tae becomes anxious the following day when Yi-jung summons Jae-min, the head of the special recruitment initiative, to her office first thing in the morning. He sends Team Leader Ga a text message informing him of the news, and Ga responds by assuring him that Jae-min does not know everything. They come to the conclusion that it would be unfair to others if the evaluation report were made public.

While Jae-min is talking to Yi-jung, Yoon-jo approaches Sun-tae to find out why she was employed and if it was just for publicity. Sun-tae causes awkwardness by stuttering his explanation that everyone voted for her since she was the best candidate in a blind test. The audience learns, however, that Sun-tae knew exactly what he was doing when he hired Yoon-jo and that her hiring was tied to a presentation she gave for PR Joa. Yi-jung, in the meantime, is questioning Jae-min on the PR team’s handling of the situation.
